By Gordon Cox, Daily Variety

Protest prepped for Katie Holmes' production

An anti-Scientology group called Anonymous has announced plans to stage a sidewalk protest timed to the opening night of the Broadway revival of “All My Sons” Oct. 16.“Sons” co-stars Katie Holmes in a supporting role.

Actress is associated with Scientology through her marriage to Tom Cruise, one of Scientology’s big-name adherents.

Anonymous, said to be a loose confederation of about 9000 people, has organized a series of anti-Scientology protests over the last several months, with members showing up for events wearing masks.

Protest doesn’t seem likely to affect box office either positively or negatively, although any increased media coverage could boost the production’s profile. The revival of Arthur Miller’s “Sons,” helmed by Simon McBurney, also stars John Lithgow, Dianne Wiest and Patrick Wilson. Show begins previews Sept. 18.

This week, you will write about a religion or belief system of your choice. First, go to the BBC's Featured Religions & Beliefs page. Then, choose a religion (preferably one you do not know very much about). After studying that religion's page, write a 1 1/2 journal about your impressions (e.g. what did you learn?, what surprised you? what did you find interesting?).
